How to Lock, Log off, Restart, Shut Down, and Switch User in Windows 8


OPTION ONE
From User Details in the Start Screen


1. 
While in the Start screen, click on either your user name or user tile (avatar) to select the Lock orLog off option.
NOTE: If you are not in the Start screen as below, you can press the Windows key to go to it.




OPTION TWO
From the CTRL+ALT+DEL Screen

1.
 Press the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys. From here you can select to Lock this PCSwitch userLog off, or you could click on the power button at the bottom right corner for the Shut down or Restartoptions.

OPTION THREE
From the "Shut Down Windows" Dialog Box

1.
 While on the Desktop (Windows+D), press the ALT+F4 keys. From here, you can select to Switch userLog offShut down, or Restart Windows 8.
NOTE: This can only be done from on the desktop. It will not work on the Start screen.

OPTION FOUR
From the "Metro" Start Menu

1. Open the "Metro" Start Menu in Windows 8, and click on Settings.

2. Click on the Power 
button at the bottom right corner in the Settings slide out menu. From here, you can select to Shut down or Restart Windows 8.
