Windows registry is the central hierarchical database to store data related to system configuration, applications, and hardware drivers etc. Backup of registry might save you hours of configuration rework. The Registry contains configuration information related to everything present. Therefore, it is crucial to backup registry files. Following is the step by step procedure.
1. In the Metro Start Menu, click on the lower left corner. The Start menu pops up. Click on Search.
 2. In the Apps Search Box, type regedit and press enter.
 3. The Registry Editor opens. Go to File -> Export and browse to where you want to save the backup registry file


4. Your registry is backed up. You can use this file later to recover your computer’s registry. .
